Healing Isn’t found in the symptom, but in the cause
A new world is unfolding — both collectively and individually.
And by that, I mean a world in which love has more space to resonate within the hearts of humanity. A world where people no longer seek happiness outside themselves, but within. A world where less pain is projected onto others, because self-awareness and insight help prevent it. A world where world leaders no longer hold all the power, but where people reclaim it themselves. By finding and living their own authenticity, different choices will be made, and power will no longer be handed over to authority outside of ourselves.
Everything that is not built on higher vibrations will eventually collapse. By higher vibrations, I mean actions that come from the heart: respect for yourself and others, self-love and love for another, openness, wonder, healing… By lower vibrations, I mean fear, sadness, anger, and searching for happiness and healing outside yourself instead of within — without truly feeling and processing these emotions.
Your Contribution to a More Beautiful World
Usually, chaos is needed first before something new can emerge. The same happens within your own body and home. Things need to be purified, and that process can hurt.
That’s why many people are currently going through a crisis. This may come through the loss of a loved one, illness, redundancy, or another painful situation. You are now being offered an opportunity to heal yourself on the deepest level. Often, a trigger is needed to bring hidden pain to the surface. This also explains the chaos in the world. Centuries-old wounds around suppression, power, control, abuse, and more are now demanding our attention.
So in many ways, this is actually a remarkable time to be alive — even though it can feel incredibly heavy at times. A life you chose yourself before incarnating. A chance to recognise, acknowledge, express, and eventually release your own pain, whether carried over centuries or rooted in this lifetime alone.
And in doing so, you contribute — in your own unique way — to peace in the world. No one escapes these transformative times, although some will experience them more intensely than others.
Stay Grounded Within Yourself
It’s important not to get swept away by all the negative news and injustice in the world. The world will continue to change regardless of whether you engage with it or not.
The real art lies in staying connected to yourself. And the moment you notice yourself slipping into a lower vibration, to gently investigate it rather than allowing it to grow into something much bigger.
And now we come to the subject of this blog:
“Healing Isn’t Found in the Symptom, but in the Cause”
Many people still believe healing lies within the symptom itself. So when pain arises somewhere, instead of first — or also — exploring where that pain truly comes from (the real cause), it is often suppressed instead.
For centuries, we as human beings have been conditioned to believe that healing is found outside ourselves: through medication alone, working harder, constantly focusing on others so we don’t have to feel our own emotions, endlessly studying, frequent holidays, and so on. Yes, these things may help temporarily, but usually the real cause runs much deeper, as described above.
Illness Needs Time to Develop
An illness rarely appears out of nowhere. Often, it has been quietly present beneath the surface for years and may suddenly emerge during or after an intense life event. Sometimes only years later.
The moment we develop an energy leak, illness can take hold. Besides traumatic events, energy leaks can also arise from things like a job we dislike, an unhealthy relationship, a painful conversation, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and so on.
And when we fail to pay enough attention to the signals our body (and mind) are giving us, illness can begin to manifest.
What You Can Do Yourself
For centuries — and in my view, for as long as humanity has existed — we have known that we possess a self-healing ability. Over time, much of this knowledge has been lost.
Here in the West, many people still view illness as if something inside the body has “broken” and simply needs fixing through medication alone.
In the East, they have evolved further in this understanding and tend to focus more on what the body is trying to communicate.
The quote in the photo hanging in my practice says:
“Before you heal someone, ask them if they are willing to give up the things that make them ill.”
You Cannot Heal Everyone!
When we focus only on the symptom (symptom management), the complaint will eventually return — often even stronger — because we ignored the signals the body was trying to give us. Healing requires participation. You have to be willing to do something yourself.
There is already so much we can do to make life more pleasant and balanced. Think of regular movement, taking enough rest, and eating as healthily as possible. We already know these things. But what I personally find just as important is turning inward and activating your own self-healing ability.

How Reiki Can Contribute
There is already a great deal you can do yourself. You may also consider taking a Reiki course to learn how to treat yourself and, if desired, others as well.
Reiki is an ancient, simple, and natural healing method in which you place your hands on different positions of the (your own) body. Wherever your hands are placed, universal healing life energy begins to flow, bringing healing wherever it is needed.
With a relatively low one-time financial investment, Reiki can support you for the rest of your life — depending on the level or degree, on every level of your being.
The Origins and Working of Reiki
Reiki originated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the 19th century by the Japanese monk and theologian Mikao Usui. He was inspired by Buddha (around the 5th/6th century BC) and his desire to help others through a metaphysical method: healing both the symptom and the cause.
Mikao Usui believed that many physical complaints partly originate from the foundational information we receive at conception from our biological parents, and partly from our own unresolved emotional struggles.
This perspective clearly shows that from the very beginning of life, we carry a backpack filled with unprocessed pain and trauma from our parents and ancestors — what I personally call the emotional inheritance. Not only is this emotional inheritance important to heal, but so too are the pains and traumas we experience ourselves throughout life. What I personally find most important within Reiki training are the initiations (energy transfers), through which the inner healing channel is, in a way, reopened. This allows you to receive more universal healing energy and therefore heal yourself more deeply. After every initiation, a cleansing period follows with each Reiki degree.
I also consider the Reiki self-treatments extremely important, because through repeated self-treatment your self-healing ability is continuously activated and your self-awareness naturally deepens.
Within my Reiki courses, I also focus on the awareness process that Reiki can initiate. Important insights and messages may arise, while suppressed emotions, patterns, and beliefs can come to the surface in order to be healed.
With Reiki, you offer healing energy — but even then, awareness remains essential. Healing is never about passively leaning back, but about turning inward.
(Which is also the essence of the quote mentioned earlier.)

I would also like to share another blog here that may help with common symptoms during a transformation process. Click here to read (Dutch) the blog on my website about so-called ascension symptoms.
